MultiRIP Hybrid: Two Types of Inks, One Printer RIP

The true benefit of a hybrid printer is to allow you to invest the money you would put into two smaller printers, bulk feed systems and two sets of complete ink into a single printer that can handle a larger amount of production. MultiRIP Hybrid is a raster image processor that allows a user to put two different types of ink into one single printer. MultiRIP Hybrid will tell the printer which ink channels to pull ink from when printing dye sublimation transfers, inkjet transfers and / or screen printing film positive media.

MultiRIP Hybrid General Features

DYE SUBLIMATION FEATURES:
Color Profiles for Industry Dye Sublimation Transfer Inks

MultiRIP Hybrid comes with profiles for the two main types of sublimation ink - ArTainium and SubliJet IQ inks from Sawgrass Systems, Inc (www.sawgrassink.com).

Easy Dye Sub Printer Feature
MultiRIP has an Easy Dye Sub Printer selection that allows you to print polyester fabric with a one click selection.

Color Profiled for Maximum Color and Brightness
MultiRIP has been profiled for the two main types of dye sublimation inks from Sawgrass Systems - Artainium Inks and SubliJet IQ Inks. Sublimation inks are an encapsulated ink – which means the way they look printed on the release paper looks completely different than after being transfer.

Dye sublimation inks are very much different than your standard Epson inks. Sublimation inks are an encapsulated ink – which means the way they look printed on the release paper looks completely different than after being transferred to the substrate. MultiRIP has profiled the different types of sublimation substrates to provide you with the bright colors. Below is a list of the different substrates and resolutions that have been color profiled:
- Polyester Fabric – Normal, Enhanced & Fine
- Mousepads – Normal & Enhanced
- Ceramic Tile - Enhanced
- Metal – Enhanced & Fine

- Glass Tile - Enhanced

Calibrated for Proper Ink Usage

Most decorators use print drivers that drop too much ink on to the release paper. To compensate for this, decorators will use a release paper that absorbs more ink quicker so that it does not pool and distort the image. MultiRIP is calibrated to print the appropriate amount of ink on to the release paper to maximize your ink usage and minimize your costs.
SCREEN PRINTING FILM POSITIVE PRINTING FEATURES

Built-In Density Curves for Specific Film Media MultiRIP is not a film brand specific RIP software program. We provide built-in density curves - calibrated specific ink setting made specific for the coating on the printable side of the film media to provide dark, dense prints without putting too much ink. MultiRIP provides the density curvers for the following industry specific films: MultiRIP Hybrid Screen Printing Film Positive RIP Software
  • * Mitsubishi * Kimoto Waterproof * Kimoto Non-Waterproof
    * PosJet * AccuArt 3 * Lawson Waterproof * Fototec Foil* Lawson Non-Waterproof * Victory Factory * Zeta11 * Ulano * AccuFast * AccuMark * Epson Piezo Pro Clear *
    MaxBlack Clear * MaxBlack Waterproof

Print Directly from Your Favorite Artwork Program
MultiRIP will work with any graphic artwork program (i.e. CorelDraw, PhotoShop, Illustrator,...) that you can print from. MultiRIP will install an indepent driver that allows your settings in your graphic artwork program (i.e. the size, shape and angle of your halftones) to print directly through the RIP software.

Halftone Screening
MultiRIP allows the use of halftone screening, thus turning your inkjet printer into a low-cost imagesetter. You can specify the screen frequency/angle at print time or you can select from one of our pre-defined screen ruling sets. MultiRIP comes with custom density curves for eight different types of film positive media.

Print Composite Proofs From Pre-separated PostScript files
MultiRIP allows you to print composite pages from PostScript separation files. This feature is very useful, as you can use the composite output to check for trapping and moire, or simply use it as a proof to show the customer. If using halftone screening for output, you can select the angle and frequency for CMYK and spot colors.

Print Separations from Composite PostScript or PDF files
MultiRIP allows you to print CMYK separations from a composite PostScript files or PDF files. If using halftone screening for output, you can specify the angle and frequency for the CMYK separations.

INKJET TRANSFER FEATURES

Color Profiles for Industry Heat Transfer Inks
MultiRIP Hybrid comes with profiles for a light transfer only ink (ChromaBlast) and a light & dark transfer ink (MultINK). MultINK is specialized dye-based ink made for printing on to fabric that will minimize the color shirt after being put under a heat press. MultINK also has UV inhibitors in the black ink that is recommended for printing film positives.

Easy Transfer Printer Feature
MultiRIP has an Easy Transfer Printer selection that allows you to print cotton fabric with a one click selection.

Profiled for Maximum Color and Brightness
Our archival-based dye inks are specially formulated to offer the best longevity and color gamut available to produce professional quality photograph prints. These dye inks are very bright and vivid to make you photographs pop off the page. MultiRIP has seven (7) different heat transfer paper profile settings.

Calibrated for Proper Ink Usage
Most decorators use standard print drivers that drop too much ink on to the transfer paper. To compensate for this, decorators will use a transfer paper that absorbs more ink quicker so that it does not pool and distort the image. MultiRIP is calibrated to print the appropriate amount of ink on to the release paper to maximize your ink usage and minimize your costs.
GENERAL MULTIRIP HYBRID FEATURES

Print and share your printer over the network
MultiRIP includes a built-in print server that allows you to share your printer over the network. MultiRIP can publish up to 50 print queues across the network. Queues can be published as hot folders, to drag-and-drop PostScript, EPS, or PDF files for printing. Everyone on your network can print to your printer and PDF generator. Share your printer with as many users at no additional charge. There is also no need to purchase additional hardware to share your printer, MultiRIP Professional does it all.

Print Queue Management
Print queue management allows you to reprint jobs directly from MultiRIP, eliminating the need to return to your application to reprint a file. Change priorities, move the print jobs up or down in the queue, pause or cancel. Hold jobs in the queue for minutes, hours, or weeks, even pause jobs in the queue to print later. Create queues for specific paper, resolution, profile, combinations or create queues to generate PDFs for the web or remote print purposes.

Add Custom Page Sizes
Unlike some applications that limit your designing abilities to set paper sizes, MultiRIP will let you design your own paper size and keep this size in memory for future use. All the standard dye sublimation release transfer paper sizes (8.5" x 11", 11" x 17 and 13" x 19") are preset.

Page Previewing
You can preview individual pages in both the output queue and the "processed jobs" queue. This can save a lot of time if a mistake is caught before expensive media is wasted.

Job / Page Priority
Allows users to change print priority on a per-job or per-page basis. When manually inserting jobs in the RIP or re-printing jobs that have been ripped; simply use the slide-bar to set values from 1 to 99 (just like Window's Print Manager) or enter the number by hand. The job or page will then assume it's new print priority. When printing from applications (Quark, PageMaker, etc.) select the priority in the print settings dialog.

Re-Print Pages without Re-Ripping
Allows you to re-print individual pages or colors from a separation with a few simple clicks of your mouse. Once the job has been processed, simply open the job item in the queue, select the pages you wish to re-send to the printer (1). Select the number of copies (2) and click "Print Selected Pages" (3). The selected pages will be sent to the output queue. When making multiple copies, the pages can be "stacked" (1,1,1, 2,2,2, 3,3,3 etc.) or collated (1,2,3, 1,2,3, etc.).

ICM/ICC Based Color Management
Supports the use of ICC and ICMs for color management. The user can select the color space of the input CMYK and RGB as well as the output ICM if they desire. All media types included with MultiRIP have been pre-linearized and the manual selection of an output profile is seldom needed. If the user has created a custom output profile, however, MultiRIP uses it per your request. You can select the ICC/ICMs at print-time or right at the RIP control panel when manually inserting PostScript or PDF files or re-processing previous jobs. A utility is included in the software which allows you to add ICM name entries into your PPD so that they appear at print-time in the print configuration dialog.
