overview on ports

We believe it is important for you to understand how the MultiRIP GP software communicates with your Epson-based dtg printer.  Below is an illustration of the workflow of the MultiRIP GP software.

Ports

An artwork file will start from the Print From application and be processed through the RIP Interface window.  From there, the postscript file will be sent to the applicable PowerRIP Output Queue that redirects it to the Epson Printer Queue assigned to the dtg printer.
NOTE:  The name of the Epson queue may differ depending on the model of printer your dtg is based on.
During the installation process, MultiRIP GP is defaulted to assign the port of the PowerRIP Output Queue to the same port as the Epson queue.  The port is the actually communication path that links the computer with the dtg printer.  However, some operating systems may prevent the port from being set correctly or there may be multiple Epson queues installed on the computer.  If the ports are set incorrectly, the print job will either never make it to the printer or postscript information (text) will print out.

The goal by the end of this module is for you to be able to:

  •   Locate and set the USB ports being used by both the RIP software and the dtg printer.
